Blackheads (Open Comedones)

Blackheads occur when the pore remains open but clogged. The trapped oil and debris oxidize when exposed to air, turning dark in color. These are also non-inflammatory but are a sign that the skin’s exfoliation and oil flow are out of balance.

In healthy skin, the pore (or follicle) remains open and clear. Oil moves freely to the surface, helping to protect and hydrate the skin without causing congestion.
